South 18th East Reconstruction

South 18th East to receive much-needed reconstruction

MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (April 5, 2018) – A section heavily-used Mountain Home roadway is due for a major overhaul, Public Works director Rich Urquidi says. The reconstruction project will affect South 18th East from American Legion Boulevard to East 6th South.

The project will include new curb and gutter along the entire length of the project on both sides of the road. New sidewalk will also be included in the project. On the west side, sidewalk will run the entire length of the project, while on the east side, new sidewalk will extend from American Legion Blvd. to just south of Lincoln St.

The department obtained a nearly $2.5 million Idaho Department of Transportation grant to fund the lion’s share of the $3.3 million project. The remainder of the bill, which includes installing a new traffic signal with turning lanes at American legion Blvd. and South 18th East, will be paid for from City funds.

Currently the project is awaiting the funding obligation request approval. The bid process will begin immediately afterward. According to this timeline, construction should begin late-June to mid-July.
