Cemetery
The City of Mountain Home maintains this cemetery to provide a final resting place for our departed loved ones. The Mountain Home, also known as the Mountain View Cemetery, provides a lot of history in and around Elmore County, dating back to 1882. Mountain View Cemetery consists of 13 acres and provides standard lots, crematory lots, and niche wall resting places.
The history of the Mountain View Cemetery uncovers information on the community’s history and a few mysteries as well. Some of which includes dates of deaths as far back as 1828, 47 years prior to 1885, which was the year the land was donated by David and Jennie Dodge.
Our cemetery includes several war sections for Civil War and Spanish American War veterans as well as a specified area dedicated to veterans that wish to be buried in the American Legion section. Furthermore, it includes memorials dedicated to each of the wars, including a large bell and flagpole erected in 1963 by the American Legion in memory of veterans of all wars.
