Today and through the weekend, the 366th Fighter Wing will fly the flags at half-mast in honor of former Mountain Home Mayor Joe B. McNeal (from 2004–2008), who passed away Jan. 25, 2026, at the age of 89. A 26-year U.S. Air Force veteran, Mayor McNeal dedicated his life to service—continuing his commitment to the Gunfighter community through public service in Idaho. His leadership helped strengthen the bond between the installation and the community, laying the foundation for Mountain Home’s growth and revitalization. He will be deeply missed by the Mountain Home community and the Gunfighter family.
