Burn Out Fund

The Mountain Home Fire Department “Burn Out” Fund is money that has been set aside to be used in the event of a devastating fire that leaves a family without the basic needs to survive, such needs as a roof over their head, clothes to wear and food to eat. It also helps with things like needed medications, sundries, blankets, and a toy for the children. This money is used for immediate needs until assistance from other outlets such as insurance and The Red Cross can be implemented. The money can also be used in the event that a firefighter is injured during a fire. It can help cover expenses like medical cost, travel expenses and loss of income. A portion of the proceeds are also used as the fire department gives out $500.00 scholarships to graduating high school students who plan to continue their education. Each year the fire department holds a Fireman’s Ball as a lead-in to their Burn Out fundraiser. A majority of the fund comes from local businesses that dig deep into their pockets each year to help out such a needed cause. The remainder of the fund comes from the generosity of the great residents of the City of Mountain Home. Each year the Mountain Home Fire Department averages about $6500.00 of assistance to needy families that have been displaced due to fire.
